Halloween lights are an essential part of spooky Halloween decorating. Scarecrows and tombstones are great fun during the day, but Halloween is, after all, a nocturnal kind of holiday. Jack-o’-lanterns are the most basic type of Halloween lights, and are probably my favorite of all Halloween decorations.
Carving a jack-o’-lantern is great fun for kids and adults alike. You don’t need a child in your life to justify carving up a pumpkin. What could be better than designing your face, carving it up, and setting the candle inside? Plus, you get the added bonus of delicious toasted pumpkin seeds! Jack-o’-lanterns are the most essential Halloween lights, but by no means are they the only ones.
Easy Halloween Lights
If you want to create cool lighting effects, but don’t have a whole lot of time or money, I suggest setting out Halloween luminaria. You can easily find paper luminaries with Halloween-themed sleeves online. Set out orange or white bags, place the sleeves inside, and light them up around your yard, porch, pool, or walkway.
Luminaria sleeves are flame retardant and die cut. They are slipped inside the luminaria paper bags, to help hold them steady, and to cast more interesting lights and shadows. For instance, if a sleeve has been die cut with a ghost or witch, the ghost or witch cut-out will glow brighter than the rest of the bag once the candle is lit.
